Teacher Observations:
Pros:
Can observe teachers in their "normal" activities
Can take inventory of the technology available in the classroom
Cons:
Make choose a day to observe when a teacher is conducting a test or not using technology
There is no interaction between the teacher and Intern and Intern is not able to ask questions
Teacher Visits:
Pros:
Can interact with the teacher and ask questions
Can work one-on-one with the teacher on technology tools
Cons:
Cannot see the teacher in action and cannot see her teaching style
Cannot see teacher's actual use of technology in the classroom

I agree with your pros and cons for teacher visits vs teacher observations. They are both very needing and you cannot be successful without using both of these.
